Survey: What do you want an international DIY/DIT music and arts conference to look like?

DIY/DIT artists, organizers, facilitators, collectives: we want to hear from you!

In November 2021, Long Winter will present a two-day digital conference: Together Apart. Together Apart is co-produced with Collectif MU (DIY venue La Station in Paris, France), in partnership with other collectives across the GTA, and features speakers from around the world. The program includes access to a (separate) academic conference on DIY/DIT (do-it-together) spaces, presented by Ryerson FCAD.

Together Apart is focused on pressing challenges and opportunities for DIY/DIT (do-it-together) grassroots music and arts scenes – with a focus on space.

We aim to unpack the collaborative instincts fuelling action and creativity in these communities, while scrutinizing their infrastructural obstacles and resisting classifying their labour in centralized terms. What do you want from a DIT music and arts conference?

This survey is a first step toward ensuring the form, content, and process of our program reflect the interests of our local communities as well as the principles of our curatorial goals. A needs assessment report and call for proposals will follow.

Thanks for sharing your insights and ideas with us.
